Physiotherapy, is a therapeutic health profession concerned with the assessment and restoration of the physical function and performance of the body. It is a distinct form of care, which can be performed both in isolation, or in combination with other types of medical care to help provide a speedy and complication-free return to normal activity/ sport.

Our team of Physical Therapists can provide pain relief from orthopaedic or musculo-skeletal complaints. Examples include:

• Sports Injuries

• Reconstructive orthopaedic surgery

• Acute or chronic joint pain

• Postural dysfunction

• Back or neck pain

• Knee and foot surgery

• Joint stiffness or poor mobility

• Arthritis

• Joint replacements

• Old recurrent injuries

At Cochrane Sport Physio our Physical Therapists are extensively trained and use a variety of treatment techniques.

Our aim is to restore your function, movement, fitness and well-being to help you maintain your healthy and active lifestyle. Physical Therapy achieves this through a process of assessing an individual’s movement and function and using agreed upon goals and objectives.

Following a thorough examination, your Physical Therapist will discuss with you the likely cause of your symptoms and the treatments which can be performed by them and yourself to achieve your desired goal as well as achieve a long-term benefit. Your treatment plan will be individual to you and specific for your condition.

It is important potential patients understand Physical Therapy is not a passive form of treatment. Part of our role is to stretch and strengthen muscles and other soft tissues, which will mean an exercise regime will be an integral part of your treatment, as well as  education in more effective and less damaging ways of doing day to day activities.

Your Physical Therapist will aim to explain and educate you about your condition throughout your session but please do not hesitate to ask throughout your visit if you do not understand anything. We feel it is vital you fully understand your condition so you can gain the best outcome.
